In karate class we spent a fair amount of time on "beginnings and endings". That is to say, we would break apart karate forms, yank out the middle steps and string beginnings and endings together in a long chain.
I thought about that this morning when I woke up.
I don't know what the relationship with writing this novel may be, or why it came into my head. I'm willing to give it a shot though, why not?
Today I'll spend on the beginning and end of the book. I'll bump my thoughts up against the beginnings of my reference novels (Tithe, The Dark Is Rising, Neverwhere) to make sure the parallels are all in place, that my pacing is on track, that something of the end is present in the first chapters and vice versa.
After I've given that a shot, I'll browse the web to see if there isn't some more on the subject already out there.
