Library Thing.

I finished chapter five last night and rewarded myself by taking a little bit of time to add the Library Thing widget to this blog (check out random book covers from my shelves on the right sidebar).

Being a coding and blogging newbie, it took me a while to figure out that I didn't have to paste the code directly into the HTML. I looked for a while online for simple instructions on how to go about it and found next to nothing. So for the record, to add the Library Thing widget to the sidebar of a Blogger page:

1 Go to the Library Thing widget page here.
2 Using the drop down boxes, configure it as you like.
3 Copy the HTML code in the scrolling box on the right.
4 Open blogger and to to the "template" tab.
5 Click on "Add a Page Element".
6 Select "HTML/JavaScript - add to blog".
7 Include a title (if you like) and paste the code into the "content" box.
8 Click "save changes".
9 Click "save" back on the "Add a Page Element" tab.

Viola!

If you're a book nerd and haven't checked out Library Thing yet, do so here. Sign up is easy and the interface is a breeze.

What is it? As they say on the tour page:
"What is LibraryThing?
LibraryThing is a new site for book lovers.
It's basically two sites in one.
LibraryThing helps you create a library-quality catalog of your books. You can do all of them or just what you're reading now.
And because everyone catalogs online, they also catalog together. LibraryThing connects people based on the books they share."
