I took a week off from writing to waste time playing Jade Empire and then went on vacation. So two weeks with no writing made me feel plenty guilty.
Yesterday I crested the inertia hill and sat down to finish chapters fourteen and fifteen.
Today I hope to complete chapters sixteen and seventeen. That will be the end of Part I and coincide with what Joseph Campbell would call the 'departure' or 'separation' of the hero(s) from the first (normal) world.
These first seventeen chapters chronicle that event, preparing our heroes for the second stage in the story- 'initiation'. This is my favorite part in any good action movie, particularly the Sunday morning action movies of my youth. You know, the training sequence, when Q gives James Bond all the new gadgets, Yoda tutoring Luke in the swamp on Dagobah and all that.
I'm looking forward to writing this section of the book more than any other.
