Baltimore.

*squealing*

I got lucky this week at work and scored an advance copy of the Mike Mignola / Christopher Golden illustrated novel "Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire." I was also lucky enough to get a signed copy of the promotional poster. I'm going to frame it and hang it on the wall of the study, right below my sweet Hellboy Ouija board.

I'm not a huge fan of Christopher Golden, but am a HUGE fan of Mike Mignola. It is described as a gothic allegory on the nature of war.The book is due out in August of 07 from Bantam. Am taking a wild guess that Anne Groell is the editor, having picked up so many great works for Bantam over the last couple of years.

From the firt paragraph of the book:

"On a cold autumn night, under a black sky leeched of starlight and absent the moon, Captain Henry Baltimore clutched his rifle and stared across the dark abyss of the battlefield, and knew in his heart that these were the torture fields of Hell, and damnation awaited mere steps ahead."
